The History of QNT (Quant)

Quant (QNT) is a blockchain-based platform with the goal of connecting private networks, blockchains, and public networks through its unique Overledger technology. Quant operates on top of an existing framework with a focus on fostering seamless interoperability between different distributed ledger technologies (DLTs). The crypto asset QNT plays a pivotal role in facilitating access to the services provided by Quant’s platform.

Origins and Founding in 2017

The Quant project was founded in 2017 by Gilbert Verdian, who had already developed significant expertise in cybersecurity and blockchain technology. Verdian worked in several renowned sectors, including health, financial services, as well as government institutions. His experience led him to recognize the need for greater interoperability between various DLTs, which had, by then, begun gaining traction but still struggled to communicate efficiently with one another.

Overledger Development

In pursuit of solving the issue of blockchain isolation, Quant’s team began building the Overledger Network. Overledger is a multi-chain application (mApp) development platform that allows different blockchains and DLTs to communicate with one another without sacrificing decentralization or security. Striving to overcome the "walled garden" effect of most blockchain networks, the Overledger platform targeted industries that operate across numerous jurisdictions and protocols.

Token Launch

Shortly after its inception, Quant launched its native token, QNT. The token was designed to have utility within the platform itself, providing developers and enterprises the ability to pay for usage fees for mApp creation, licensing fees for enterprises, and staking services. Unlike some projects that primarily pivot toward the consumer market, Quant’s vision was aimed largely at enterprise use cases, offering a framework on which businesses could build custom-built applications across interconnected ledgers.

Early Adoption and Partnerships

One driving aspect of Quant's early work was building partnerships across a variety of sectors. By fostering connections to governmental organizations, large financial entities, and technology platforms, Quant sought to provide an all-encompassing solution for cross-chain interoperability. This effort led to integrations not only on popular blockchain networks but also on private, permissioned networks commonly used by financial institutions.

The Evolution of the Overledger Ecosystem

The years following Quant’s introduction into the blockchain space saw the continued enhancement of the Overledger ecosystem. With ongoing support for multiple chains and expanding use cases, the project continued to refine its goal of creating an underlying infrastructure that could integrate various aspects of the blockchain world into a unified whole. This focus on infrastructure remains a focal point in the project's development approach.
