History of QNT (Quant Network)
Quant (QNT) is a cryptocurrency and blockchain-based technology aimed at solving interoperability issues between different blockchains. The history of Quant and its associated token, QNT, starts in 2017 when the idea first emerged, driven by the development of a blockchain operating system called Overledger.
Founded in 2017 by Gilbert Verdian and his team, the key goal of the Quant Network was to enable different blockchain networks to communicate with each other. This multifaceted vision stemmed from Verdian’s background in cybersecurity and his roles in several high-profile organizations, including the UK government and other financial sectors. Verdian had recognized the challenges that arise from a lack of interoperability between different data and financial systems, and the use of blockchain only aggravated this issue as blockchain ecosystems began developing in isolation.
The main innovation Quant brought forward was its Overledger operating system. Overledger functions as an interface enabling different blockchains to interoperate without losing their specific properties. It aims to cover industry-wide sectors like healthcare, supply chain management, finance, and government services. Overledger is designed in such a way that developers can build decentralized applications (dApps) that operate across multiple blockchain platforms, making Quant one of the first projects to focus extensively on blockchain-level interoperability.
In 2018, the Quant Network held its Initial Coin Offering (ICO), releasing the native QNT token. QNT plays a crucial role in accessing and using Overledger-related services. The ICO raised substantial awareness about the interoperability problem within the blockchain world, giving Quant a noticeable niche within the crypto ecosystem. The adoption of the Quant Network’s technology largely depends on adoption by enterprises, as the network is geared towards meeting corporate needs as well as those of developers and government agencies.
By tackling a well-recognized issue within the blockchain landscape, Quant Network has been adopted by enterprises aimed at achieving secure interoperability. Since its ICO and launch in 2018, the platform has continued to evolve, refining Overledger’s functionalities and growing its developer ecosystem.
As a history that began with the goal of enabling blockchain interoperability, the vision for Quant has consistently been enterprise-friendly and developer-focused. While technological challenges remain as blockchain ecosystems grow independently, Quant’s vision for universal interoperability remains central to its ongoing development.
