Rocket Pool (RPL) is a decentralized Ethereum staking service designed to allow anyone to participate in Ethereum 2.0 staking. Its founding team has played a pivotal role in developing the platform, helping to shape the broader decentralized finance (DeFi) ecosystem.
David Rugendyke: Founder and CTO
The project was founded by David Rugendyke. With a background in software development and blockchain technology, Rugendyke laid the foundation for Rocket Pool's technical and architectural framework. His vision for Rocket Pool was based on addressing issues of decentralization and participation, particularly for staking services. Rugendyke’s expertise in smart contract development has been critical to the project, given the technical challenges involved in creating a decentralized system for Ethereum staking. He continues to serve as the project's Chief Technology Officer (CTO), steering much of the protocol’s ongoing development and technical design.
Rocket Pool’s Core Team
Rugendyke initially worked on Rocket Pool independently but later expanded the team to include other seasoned blockchain developers. The project's expansion involved bringing on board specialists in cryptography, decentralized systems, and Ethereum infrastructure. Outside of the core backend team, Rocket Pool also onboarded user-interface (UI) and experience (UX) designers to enhance the usability of the service and make staking more accessible to broader audiences.
Several anonymous contributors have also worked on Rockpool Pool. These contributors provide patches and improvements, testing smart contracts and network protocols, typical of many open-source DeFi projects.
