The Founding Team Behind Quant (QNT)
Quant (QNT) was founded in 2017 by Gilbert Verdian, a cybersecurity expert with an extensive background in both the public and private sectors. Verdian has held leadership roles in prominent organizations, including HM Treasury, the Bank of England, and Aneroid—a positive indicator of his deep understanding of the financial and regulatory landscapes.
Leveraging his experience, Verdian introduced Quant to address a key challenge facing the blockchain industry: interoperability. With the increasing number of blockchains emerging, the seamless exchange of information between different networks became a necessity. His vision for Quant centered on building a universal system that could connect disparate blockchains and enterprise software. This vision materialized in Quant’s flagship product, the Overledger Network, which facilitates multi-chain interoperability.
Gilbert Verdian
Verdian's background in cybersecurity and regulatory affairs strongly played into the direction of Quant. Before founding the project, he contributed to the development of the ISO/TC 307 blockchain standard, giving him insights from both regulatory bodies and the technical side of blockchain applications. This unique combination of expertise provided strategic foresight that helped mold Quant’s approach to network security and compliance—both critical elements in enterprise adoption.
Dr. Paolo Tasca
As one of Quant’s other key team members, Dr. Paolo Tasca holds the position of Chief Strategy Officer for the project. He is an economist with specific expertise in fintech, digital currencies, and blockchain. Tasca has previously advised the European Parliament, the United Nations, and other international institutions, further bolstering Quant’s credibility in navigating these global regulatory frameworks. His academic background, paired with his hands-on advisory experience with governmental institutions, adds to Quant’s strategic trajectory in fostering both adoption and innovation.
Colin Paterson
The technical development of the Quant platform has largely been shaped by Colin Paterson, the Chief Technology Officer (CTO). Paterson’s extensive background includes over two decades of experience in the fields of software development and security architectures. He has played a crucial role in constructing the Overledger Network’s technical architecture, ensuring that it meets modern-day enterprise security standards while offering ease of integration across diverse systems.
Additional Contributions
Quant's founding team consistently engages with regulatory bodies, enterprise solutions, and blockchain standards to ensure the sustainability and scalability of the platform. Their approach to cross-functional application development emphasizes security and compliance without sacrificing innovation. This balance has often been credited as being central to their goal of fostering mass adoption of blockchain technology.
