Mo Shaikh – Co-Founder & CEO

His past positions include leadership roles at Meta's (formerly Facebook) Diem initiative, where he helped shape the development of decentralized finance solutions.

Avery Ching – Co-Founder & CTO

Avery Ching holds the role of Chief Technology Officer (CTO) at Aptos, and his contributions to blockchain technology extend far beyond this particular project. Similar to Shaikh, Ching was highly involved with the Diem project, specifically focusing on blockchain consensus protocols. His work on improving efficiency through secure consensus mechanisms was instrumental in forming the foundation upon which Aptos was built. Additionally, Ching is well-known for contributing to several highly technical aspects of distributed systems, which has helped him emerge as one of the leading technical minds in the blockchain space.

Background from Meta’s Diem (aka Libra) Project

Both Shaikh and Ching were deeply involved in Meta's previously ambitious cryptocurrency project, Diem, initially branded as Libra. The Diem project focused on building a scalable and secure payment infrastructure deeply integrated with blockchain technology. Those foundational efforts from Meta's initial Diem concept were repurposed and improved upon to develop Aptos. This context has been pivotal in allowing the co-founders to leverage blockchain expertise that had been incubated in one of the largest tech companies globally.
