Meet the Innovators Behind Quarkchain's Vision

Quarkchain (QKC) Founding Team

Quarkchain (QKC) was founded by a team of researchers and developers who sought to address scalability and security challenges in blockchain technology through a two-layered blockchain architecture. The project was launched in 2017, with its whitepaper laying the foundation for a solution geared toward high-throughput blockchain performance. Key individuals in the Quarkchain founding team have contributed to its development, representing a mix of technical expertise and academic background in blockchain technology, distributed systems, and computer science.

Qi Zhou - Founder and CEO

Qi Zhou is the founder and driving force behind Quarkchain. Zhou holds a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from the Georgia Institute of Technology. Before founding Quarkchain, he amassed years of industry experience, having worked for reputed technology companies such as Google and Facebook. At these companies, Zhou specialized in large-scale distributed systems and cloud computing, which laid the groundwork for his interest in developing a scalable blockchain solution. His research experience and commercial work provided a solid technical framework for creating the two-layer blockchain architecture employed by Quarkchain, aimed at enhancing network throughput and performance.

Technological Expertise

The Quarkchain project, from its inception, has leaned heavily on its team’s technical capacities. Zhou’s leadership, combined with the support of a technically proficient team, helped the project adopt a modular structure with sharding technology — a method of partitioning data to improve scalability. Quarkchain’s vision of solving the blockchain trilemma (balancing security, scalability, and decentralization) has roots in the way the founding team's technical capabilities align with complex areas of computer science.

Research and Development Influence

The founding team has emphasized a research-driven approach to blockchain development, stressing that many current blockchain systems were not optimized for large-scale, high-frequency transactions. Their whitepapers, research publications, and consistent updates have shown a long-standing commitment to theoretical and practical advances in blockchain protocols. Qi Zhou's academic experience in distributed systems has been instrumental in this R&D-focused direction.

Team Expansion and Resource Pool

Over time, the initial core members of Quarkchain have been complemented by a growing team of developers, engineers, and researchers who contribute to the platform's design and development. Early efforts by the founding team to create partnerships and engage with both academic and industry experts have helped maintain the project's trajectory of innovation, though challenges remain in achieving widespread adoption.
